Saving money has become a need and act to do. There are literally hundreds of simple ways to save money to increase your passive income at hand. The most important thing, is to be aware.  People tend to spend money in automatic mode.  To save money, it is important to always be thinking of ways to save.

Here are a few tips to get started.

1. Use cash.  Don’t be into credit cards using. In the long run, credit cards will never save you any money but will put you in the grave of debts.  Even a debit card can be deceiving.  It is so much easier to simply swipe the card but think of the possible credit problems.

2. Check your bills. Especially if your bills are auto deducted, the tendency is to assume the bill is correct.  It is so important to look at a paper statement (or on-line statement) each month to make sure the charges are correct.  The savings could  be huge with just a few extra minutes a month.

3. Make a list.  When going to the grocery store, check the ads and flyers at home, make a list, and stick to the list.  It is so easy to impulse buy (even with a list) but the temptation will be much less.

4. Plan meals and snacks.  Write down a menu for the week.  Include snacks in the menu planning.  This will save time, energy, and money at the store.

5. Turn down the air conditioning/ turn up the heat.  In the summer, turn that air con up by just 2-3 degrees.  In the winter, turn down the heat 2-3 degrees (grad a blanket if needed).  This simple step can save 20-25% each month!

6. Get together with friends.  Casual gatherings can be so much fun and doesn’t have to cost much at all.  Meet 2-3 couples or families at a local park or even at someone’s house.  Gather around 1:00pm (so no meal needs to be provided).  Have each guest bring a light snack and whatever they want to drink. This calls for a potluck style of party or get together.

Saving money is no hard effort at all. You just have to be creative and smart enough to find ways to make it possible. End results will be so favorable to your savings.
