A recent survey discovers that the biggest Premium Bonds winnings are won by people living in the South West. Compared to the rest of the United Kingdom, the South West area seems to win more prizes in the range of 1,000 UK pounds in the span of one year. The National Savings and Investments agency found this trend.

The survey showed those in the South West won a combined total of £8.3 million calculated from prizes of £1,000 or more. The second luckiest region was the East Midlands with £3.8 million, followed by Wales with £2.2 million. The North East was the least lucky of all the regions with a prize value of just £845,000.
Meanwhile NS&I also said there were currently more than 599,000 unclaimed Premium Bond prizes across the UK, worth more than £35 million. London has the highest proportion of unclaimed prizes with 114,449, amounting to £6.9 million, while the South East has the second most with 79,228, totalling £4.7 million.
However NS&I said there was no time limit for claiming prizes. Premium Bonds investors can check to see if they have won by visiting www.nsandi.com and using the Premium Bonds prize checker or writing in to NS&I.NS&I Premium Bonds manager Sally Swait said: “Each month Ernie randomly generates the winning Premium Bonds numbers from his home in Blackpool, where all eligible Bonds - regardless of their age - have an equal chance of winning.
“The last year has seen the South West region receive the greatest luck in having their numbers come up, though all other regions were not without their own significant wins. As the numbers are generated randomly each month, we may very well see a change in the rankings of the luckiest regions in the UK next year.”
